May Monthly News

Cecil Leitch v Cold Ashby (Away)

In the return match v Cold Ashby away on Saturday 1 May 2010, we were only able to field a team of six players.  The team fought hard, but unfortunately we lost 4:3.  So far this year we have already improved on the total number of individual games we won all of last season - a great achievement by all of the ladies.

Cecil Leitch v Daventry (Away)

This match was played on Saturday 15 May 2010 away at Daventry.  The weather was not so kind to us, with us playing through rain and conditions which were more like the middle of Winter instead of Summer.  In tough conditions we lost 5:2, but the ladies remain very positive and are keen to continue putting into practice the lessons learnt from Rodney.

Mixed Competition v Cherwell (Away)

Sunday 9th May saw a mixed team from Silverstone travel to our sister club Cherwell for a friendly mixed competition.  Six pairings put their names down to represent the club and turned out in fine form to take on the team from Cherwell.  The weather was especially kind after the rain of Saturday and the course was in a lovely condition, even though it took some longer than others to get used to the slightly slower greens.

The meal afterwards was much needed and enjoyed by all.  We would like to thank Cherwell for their hospitality on the day as it could not be faulted and we look forward and welcome the return match next year.

The winners - Silverstone, by 4 games to 2.
