Lady Captain's Away Weekend (September 30, 2008) The ladies of Silverstone Golf Club enjoyed their Captain’s away weekend on Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th September. The venue for this years trip was Manor of Groves in Hertfordshire. The weather was very kind with some beautiful sunshine and the course was in good condition except for the hollow coring of the greens that had taken place that week which unfortunately reflected in the scoring. The competition over the weekend was for a 2 round full handicap stableford competition which was won by club captain Nicki Turbayne with Denise Turvey as runner up. There were also a multitude of individual prizes ranging from ‘most balls lost’ to ‘most trees hit’ and all who attended came away with a memento of the weekend. A big thank you goes to Janet Cox for organising the weekend and also to all the ladies who attended, making it a very memorable weekend.
